Extensive Sports Management? - Wasserman

One look at Wasserman’s business profile fooled me into thinking I got the wrong account.

But no, I was wrong. My assumption of the company is strictly sports driven was totally thrown out of the window.

Football agencies can be innovative as well as very complex. Today I looked at Wasserman, one of the best examples of this;

  • Numerous big talents

  • Not only with football

  • Expansive and open-minded

The company of Wasserman seems to identify itself as an “entertainment company” according to its LinkedIn profile.

“Wasserman is a culture-centric agency, serving the best athletes, artists, brands & properties in the world.” - LinkedIn profile, 2023.

Helping manage the careers of some of the best players from leagues such as the Premier League, Bundesliga, Seria A, and more, it is a huge task.

But why must such a company be open-minded when recruiting athletes of interest in different countries? This question is expanded upon in this piece…

It is not simply put. But the main reason is to be able to find new and exciting talents which will bring more light to the company but also help drive the person themselves – ultimately bringing in more money and interest back.

A gamble a person is done in all walks of life; let’s say, for example, you are in charge of a bakery. You may choose to put your trust in someone by hiring them for your company, as a baker for your bakery.

It costs money to hire someone and the job they do is usually reliant on them, nobody else.

Feedback, promises, and talk surrounding a person can prompt you to bring them in, but it is always a gamble as you can never be certain.

Applying this to the world of sports management, it is the same. This is the sort of challenge a company like Wasserman might need to go through.

From the world-class La Liga pitch of the Bernabeu (Federico Valverde, £100 million MV) to the Northern Premier League's Rosett Park, where Marine AFC play their games (Mo Touray, £0 MV), Wasserman helps out at almost every level of the game.
